It was eerily quiet today in Kiev. The streets were almost devoid of traffic; maybe it was the constant, chilly drizzle. One thing I did notice was that many of the stores have big “SALE 70% OFF!” signs in the windows.
The bloom is definitely off the economic rose here. We heard and saw many Ukranians grumbling as they shopped, picking things up off of the shelves, and putting them back again, shaking their heads.
